The Department for Education has produced a ‘Statutory Policies for Schools’ document, which outlines the policies and other documents governing bodies are legally required to hold. The Governing Body of Thorn Grove Primary School used this guidance to create a policy review schedule.
All policies are reviewed in line with the schedule and are available, either electronically or in paper form without charge, upon request. Please contact the school office if you wish to receive copies of any of our policies and we will be very happy to help you.
In the first instance an appointment should be made with the class teacher to discuss any issue that has arisen. If concerns remain after consultation with the class teacher, then an appointment should be made to see the Headteacher. Please see the Complaints Procedure above or request a copy from the School Office.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All adults who work in school need a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All staff are trained in child protection procedures and have the safety of the children in mind at all times. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the policies section of our website above.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our Lead Designated Senior Person for child protection (DSP) is Mr Peter Luck (Headteacher). Our Deputy DSP is Mrs Jayne Lilley (Deputy Head Teacher). In addition, Mrs Natalie Bowen (SENCo) is a DSP. If you have a safeguarding concern, please speak with your class teacher or to Mr Luck, Mrs Lilley or Mrs Bowen directly.
At Thorn Grove Primary School, we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, sexual orientation, age or socio-economic background. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life.
