Values & Ethos

Thorn Grove Primary School is a community of caring, independent, freethinking and creative learners who are curious about the world around them. Everyone is a learner: pupils, teachers and support staff share in their achievements and work together. Everyone aims high and strives to achieve their own ambitious personal goals. Everyone is valued equally.

Thorn Grove School aims:

  • To create a secure, caring and stimulating environment where children see learning as purposeful, challenging and enjoyable.

  • To provide an independent approach to learning based on first hand experiences which extend natural curiosity and reinforce the enjoyment of learning.

  • To recognise and celebrate children’s achievement.

  • To teach children to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

  • To promote children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.

  • To encourage children to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for their school, the wider community and the environment.

  • To develop a wide range of skills relevant to their present needs and equipping them for life in the future.
