What is the PTA?

The PTA is the Parent Teacher Association. Every Parent or Carer of a child who attends Thorn Grove School is a member of the PTA. Parents and Carers may choose to become a member of the committee.

What do the PTA Committee members do?

The committee plan and organise fund raising events to enable the school to buy things to enhance the children’s education. In previous years the money has been used for the library, DT, PE equipment, a new television, CD writer, leasing for computers, book prizes at the end of each term, and the outdoor play areas in Key Stage 1 and 2 play grounds.

How are the funds raised?

The committee organise a varied amount of events each year that are supported by our generous parents.  Apart from the four discos each year we have also had quiz nights, ice skating, kids fashion shows, a pamper evening, recycling schemes, sale of tea towels and fun days.

At the moment we are fundraising by collecting old British or foreign coins and notes, even obsolete currency.  Initially there will be lots of posters around the school as well as a collection bucket. Once all the currency has been collected we will send it to www.cash4coins.co.uk who will exchange it into cash we can use. The bucket will be here all year so please keep it coming.

How can I help?

The committee is always happy to welcome new members.  If this is not for you but you’d like to help, we are always in need of volunteers to help us out at events.  Maybe you can help man a stall or help decorate the hall.  Perhaps you can spare a few minutes to help us clear up afterwards.  Can you donate a raffle prize, or have you got any new ideas for fund raisers?

Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated.
